Anyone that follows us on instagram, more specifically instagram stories, has seen that I do a series called, “nap time diaries”. It’s something I share once every week or so publicly with all of you, but it’s something we experience on the daily over here. It’s an intimate time that I have chosen to invite all of you in, to share a bit of my heart in those magical moments that mean so much to me.
Klo, our littlest bird, has always been a pretty good sleeper. Unlike my other two girls who we would have to bounce for 20-30 minutes or more before they would give into sleep as babies. Or try several sleep training methods and fail miserably. Klo simply nestles in wherever she is and let’s her sweet eyes close when tired. Since she was a baby, it’s been our routine to either nurse or read or rock or hold and dance her to sleep while listening to the combination of white noise and soft music playing.
Now, nearly two years earth side, this routine is still very much a part of our everyday (minus the nursing). And it’s one of those moments in the day that I look forward to most because it forces us to slow down and reconnect after our busy mornings.
I have been asked this question many times, “so what do you about your other children while you’re getting her to sleep? Who’s looking after them?” My answer, nap time = quiet time. When it’s time for Klo’s nap we simply prepare my other girls with a quiet time activity; books, coloring, or pulling out their favorite toys that they may have a hard time sharing when Klo is awake. Honestly though, it doesn’t take her much to fall asleep, which I know helps a lot in making this routine possible and work for our family.
Music is the key ingredient to making it a success too and today I’m finally sharing our peace + calming playlist with you, HERE. I hope you find sometime to listen to it and that it brings you (and maybe a sweet little one) the same peace + calm feeling as it does us.
